August 26, 2014 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Midwest League has announced Wisconsin Timber Rattlers slugger Clint Coulter as the designated hitter for the league's 2014 Postseason All-Star team. The team was selected in a vote of the managers of the sixteen teams in the league.
Coulter got off to a hot start when he was named the league's first batter of the week in 2014. Coulter was also picked as the starting DH for the Western Division for the 2014 Midwest League All-Star Game. He has continued his hot start through the rest of the season.
The catcher, who was taken in the first round of the 2012 draft by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 27th overall pick, is hitting .282 with 20 home runs and 83 RBI in 119 games played this season. He is second in the Midwest League in homers and RBI. Coulter has walked 70 times and been hit by pitches nineteen times to give him a MWL-best on base percentage of .407.
Coulter also has 50 extra base hits (27 doubles, three triples, and 20 home runs) for a slugging percentage of .512. He is second in the league in slugging percentage.
The Timber Rattlers have seven games remaining in the 2014 regular season and Coulter has chances to tie or break a couple of records for the franchise. Coulter is two homers away from tying Khris Davis and Victor Roache for the single season home run record. Coulter is also two hit batsmen away from tying the record set by Brandon Macias in 2012.
Wisconsin is currently holds the second half Western Division Wild Card spot with seven games remaining in the regular season. The Timber Rattlers host the Beloit Snappers today at 12:05pm in the final game of a series. The Rattlers will welcome the Burlington Bees to town for a three-game series from August 27 to August 29. All three games against the Bees are scheduled to start at 7:05pm. Tickets are available for all four of the home games left on the schedule.
