
Cougars rout Lugnuts, 10-1

LANSING, Mich. - Behind a 16-hit attack, the Kane County Cougars (19-8, 64-33) cruised to a 10-1 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (13-14, 46-50) to take the rubber match of a three-game series on Friday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.
One night after a three-hit, extra-inning shutout, the Kane County pitching staff held the Lugnuts to four hits and one unearned run.
Kane County starting pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng (Win, 5-0) did not allow a base runner until center fielder D.J. Davis singled with two outs in the fourth inning. The Taiwanese right-hander finished the night with six scoreless innings, allowing the one hit and one walk with three strikeouts.
Lansing starter Chase De Jong (Loss, 0-6) surrendered a solo home run to third baseman Jeimer Candelario in the second inning, and catcher Cael Brockmeyer drilled a three-run homer against him in the fourth to open a 5-0 lead.
De Jong allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in four innings.
After Mitch Nay reached on an error by right fielder Shawon Dunston, Jr., Lansing scored its only run in the seventh inning on an RBI double by shortstop Dawel Lugo.
Lansing dropped to 4-10 against Midwest League Western Division teams on the season.
The Lansing Lugnuts welcome the Clinton LumberKings to begin a three-game series on Saturday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. Right-hander Brad Allen (3-2, 4.08) will start on the mound for the Lugnuts, with righty Jose Flores (2-1, 4.24) pitching for Clinton. LAFCU Fireworks follow the 7:05 p.m. game.
