
Cougars Fall in Series Finale

Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars saw a three-game winning streak come to an end, as the Lake Country DockHounds coasted to an 11-4 victory on Thursday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.
The DockHounds (5-13) jumped on the board early against Cougars (8-11) starter AJ Jones (0-1). Nick Banks led off the game with a single, and two batters later Demetrius Sims homered to left field to make it 2-0.
In the bottom of the first, the Cougars responded. After Tyler Pike walked the bases loaded, TJ Bennett drove in Josh Allen with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1. However, Lake Country struck right back in the top of the second. Following an Aaron Simmons single, Brian Rey belted a two-run homer to make it 4-1.
Allen pulled the Cougars closer in the bottom of the second. After Pete Kozma walked earlier in the inning, Allen crushed a two-run homer over the left field fence to make it 4-3. Lake Country went on to add another run in the third on an RBI groundout by Jaxx Groshans to make it 5-3.
The Cougars put up one more run in the bottom of the third on a Daniel Wasinger single. After that point, it was all DockHounds. Lake Country scored another run in the fifth and two in the seventh to go up 8-4. Then, in the ninth, Brian Rey belted a three-run homer that made it an 11-4 final. Lake Country racked up 14 hits in the win.
Keisy Portorreal earned the win for Lake Country by tossing three scoreless innings of relief.
The Cougars will hit the road for the next six games to take on the Sioux City Explorers and Milwaukee Milkmen.
