
Cougars Announce 2011 Schedule

GENEVA, IL - In conjunction with the first official day of the off-season, the Kane County Cougars have announced the organization's 2011 game schedule. The season commences with a four-game road trip to Wisconsin beginning on April 7 before the squad returns home for the Elfstrom Stadium opener on Monday, April 11 against Quad Cities. The complete 140-game schedule of home and road dates is available at www.kccougars.com. Game times and a detailed promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
The Cougars square off against divisional foes from April 7 through May 30, including a trip to Clinton for a three-game series beginning on April 15. The Cougars came up on the short end of a three-game Western Division championship series that concluded in Clinton on Monday night. Kane County makes their inaugural trip to Lake County (Ohio) to face the Captains beginning on May 31. Shortly after, the Cougars welcome the Bowling Green Hot Rods, who debuted in the Midwest League this past season along with Lake County, for a three-game set June 7-9.
The Cougars will be at home for the following holidays in 2011: Memorial Day weekend (5/27-30 vs. Wisconsin), Father's Day (6/19 vs. Clinton), the Independence Day weekend (7/1-4 vs. Beloit and Quad Cities), and Labor Day weekend (9/3-5 vs. Clinton).

PLAYOFF UPDATE: The Cougars' 2010 season came to a close Monday night in eastern Iowa as the team fell to the Clinton LumberKings in a decisive Game 3 of the Western Division Championship series. Clinton earns the right to play for the Midwest League Championship, their first appearance in an LCS since 1993.
The Cougars advanced to the divisional championship round by defeating the Quad Cities River Bandits in a three-game series to open the postseason last week.
The playoff appearance was the Cougars' sixth in eight years as an A's affiliate, and the furthest the club had advanced in a postseason since the '06 Cougars squad.
