Cougars and the Salvation Army Announce Virtual Teddy & Toque Toss
PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars are excited to launch the 2020 Virtual Teddy & Toque Toss in support of The Salvation Army. The target of the campaign is to raise $5,000 to help assist those in need in our community.
The Teddy & Toque Toss has been a long-standing tradition in the community and one of the most anticipated events during the Prince George Cougars season. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and gathering restrictions in place, physical donations can't be accepted this year. The Salvation Army and the Cougars hope you will be inspired to make a donation online to help families in our community that have been greatly impacted by the pandemic.
"Our annual Teddy & Toque Toss game is a tradition, and while it's a lot of fun for everyone, we are very concerned that our inability to hold the game this year is leaving a major gap for the Salvation Army and the families who are in need of the many thousands of items donated each year," said Cougars' Vice President, Business Andy Beesley. "I would encourage all fans to think about what they would have spent coming to the game: their tickets, concession food, items for throwing onto the ice, and consider donating that sum as a wonderful way to support our community. On behalf of our entire organization, I want to say thank you very much to all of our fans who are able to offer their support."
The public can donate by going to the Cougars' website (www.pgcougars.com) or The Salvation Army's (www.sapg.ca). From there, they can choose from the follow five tiers of donations:
Starting Line-Up (Stuff a stocking): $25 Hat-Trick (Buy a child's gift): $50 All-Star (Buy a child's gift & stocking): $100 Hall of Fame (Buy a gift & stocking for three children): $500 Assist (Sponsor a family's Christmas): A donation of their choosing
"The Cougars' partnership with The Salvation Army is a time-honoured tradition that truly does Give Hope Today; we are grateful for the continued work that the Cougars undertake for the benefit of our community," says Major Neil Wilkinson of The Salvation Army. "This year, more than ever, we depend on the partnerships that we have to continue to meet the rising unmet needs in our community."
All donations made to the Virtual Teddy & Toque Toss are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
