Cotton Kings Weekly Notes

January 30, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

EVEN HORROR MOVIES HAVE HAPPY ENDINGS

The Lubbock Cotton Kings had a nightmare start to their three-in-three weekend last week, dropping an 8-2 home contest to the Oklahoma City Blazers Friday night and following it up Saturday in Odessa with a 7-2 defeat to the Jackalopes. Sunday, the Cotton Kings jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the Jackalopes at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, but Odessa rallied back and forced overtime. In overtime, Emery Olauson scored the game winning goal for his first professional hat trick and the Kings 5-4 win. The win ended a three-game overall winless streak and a seven-game series winless streak with Odessa. The win meant the Kings dropped just a point back from Odessa in the Southwest Division standings on the overall weekend, despite being out-scored 19-9 in the combined three games. Lubbock continues division play this weekend with a two-game home-and-home series with the Amarillo Gorillas starting Friday in Lubbock and concluding Saturday night in Amarillo.
