Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs and Niagara IceDogs renewed their rivalry on Friday night to the delight of nearly 3800 at FirstOntario Centre. Hamilton's own Mark Duarte would open the scoring just 2:24 into the game as Lawson Sherk would rotate the puck high for Nathan Staios who found Duarte crossing through the IceDogs goal for a tip past Josh Rosenzweig giving Duarte his 1st of the season. The Bulldogs would double their lead at 17:14 of the opening frame with Logan Morrison carrying the puck through the right-wing corner and behind the IceDogs net and finding George Diaco with a no-look back pass at the right post which Diaco would flip past Rosenzweig giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
The second period would be more of the same as the Bulldogs would once again add to the lead as Jorian Donovan found Logan Morrison through the middle of the ice, in turn playing the puck to Avery Hayes. As Hayes strode into the IceDogs zone he would drag the puck back into his stride and fire a laser-beam of a shot off the far post past Rosenzweig and into the net giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead into the 3rd period.
With Marco Costantini turning aside everything he faced through 40, the Bulldogs would press for one more. Jonathan Melee would fly ahead on a breakaway, being taken down right in front of the IceDogs net resulting in a penalty shot 2:11 into the third period. Melee, would stride straight down the ice, faking Rosenzweig with a leg kick and flipping the puck over his pad on the backhand for his 1st OHL goal giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead. Marco Costantini would finish the game out with 15 saves in the 3rd period, 36 overall in the game for his 1st shutout of the season as the Bulldogs closed out a 4-0 victory.
The Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, October 16th visiting the Niagara IceDogs at 7pm.
