Frisco RoughRiders News Release
Frisco gave up a season-high eight runs in one inning, losing to Corpus Christi Friday night, 10-2. RoughRiders' starter Blake Beavan struggled in his third outing for Frisco, allowing nine runs over 4.1 innings, but only six runs were earned.
Corpus Christi struck in the first inning with a pair of runs, but Frisco answered with a run in the third frame when Mitch Moreland tripled followed by an RBI ground out by Justin Smoak. However, the Hooks would put up an eight-spot in the fifth inning on six hits, knocking Beavan out of the game. The RoughRiders scored a run in the seventh inning on an RBI ground out by Renny Osuna and plated one more in the eighth on an RBI single by Chad Tracy to score Moreland and make the score 10-3.
Beavan gave up nine runs (six earned) over 4.1 innings pitched, striking out two and walking two. The two walks and nine runs were both season-highs for Beavan. Zach Phillips made his Double-A debut in relief of Beavan, going the remaining 4.2 innings, allowing one run (unearned), striking out three and walking two. Hooks' starter Sergio Perez (6-6) gave up just two runs over seven frames to earn his sixth win on the season.
Frisco was led by Tracy with a pair of hits and Moreland with two runs. The RoughRiders tied a season-high for a single game with four errors on defense.
The RoughRiders will look to bounce back in game two of the series against Corpus Christi on Saturday at Dr Pepper Ballpark with first pitch at 7 p.m.
