FRISCO, TX - Texas exploded for seven goals and Jake Stafford pitched his second shutout in as many outings as the Tornado defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays, 7-0, at the Dr Pepper Arena on Saturday night. J.D. Howard and Alec Thieda each had two tallied for the Tornado.

Marco Wieser made 38 saves in the loss for Corpus Christi.

Texas used a strong offensive first period to hop out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Two goals from J.D. Howard (7, 8) and Ralfs Freibergs (2) paced the Tornado to the three-goal advantage. Shots were 19-4 in favor of Texas.

The Tornado extended their lead to 4-0 at the 13:57 mark when Tyler Rostenkowski (1) ripped a hard slap shot from the blue line past Marco Wieser. Tempers flared at the 14:05 mark when Kyle Hughes convincingly won a fight with Freibergs. The altercation led to the ejections of Mico Solorzano for instigating a fight, Brandon Marshall for leaving the bench, and Axel Boyer for being the third man into a fight. Shots were 13-9 for the IceRays.

Three more goals in the third period, two from Alec Thieda (1, 2) and Jackson Leef (11) sealed the victory for the Tornado, 7-0. Final shots were 45-26 for the Tornado.

The IceRays continue their seven-game road trip, Thursday night at 8:30 PM CT in Rio Rancho, New Mexico against the New Mexico Mustangs.
