CornBelters' Fish Named Frontier League Player of the Week

NORMAL, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have received their second Frontier League weekly honor as Mike Fish has been named the circuit's Player of the Week.

Fish improved his batting average 84 points over the week to .274. The center fielder is on a six-game hitting streak with his most recent outing on Sunday a 3-for-4 day at the plate that included a home run, a double and three runs batted in.

Fish, 25, is from Delmar, New York and is in his first season with the CornBelters and his fourth season in professional baseball, having spent the first three years in the Los Angeles Angels organization.

The CornBelters begin a six-game road trip with a doubleheader on Wednesday in Evansville starting at 4 p.m. The Belters play a single game at Evansville on Thursday and travel to Sauget, Ill. to face the Gateway Grizzlies in a three-game weekend series. The Belters return home Tuesday for a three-game series with the River City Rascals.
