
Conroy leads Captains over Legends

(Eastlake, Ohio)------ Left fielder Mike Conroy went 3-5 with 3 RBI's as The Lake County Captains defeated the Lexington Legends 6-4 Thursday night at Classic Park.
The win snapped a four game losing streak by the Captains, the longest of the season.
The Captains (7-7) took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning. Niuman Romero extended his hitting streak to seven games, started the inning with a sharp single to center off Legends starter Sean Walker. Conroy then followed with a two-run blast over the right field wall, his second long ball of the season giving the Captains a 4-0 lead.
The Legends (10-4) tied the score at four with three runs in the top of the sixth, and one in the seventh. Catcher J.R. Towles, and Wladimir Sutil contributed two hits each in the effort.
Conroy broke the 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning, lacing a single to right which plated Matt Fornasiere from second to give the Captains the lead at 5-4.
Juan Valdes, Chris De la Cruz had the other RBI's for Lake County.
Captains reliever Michael Finocchi (2-0) picked up his second victory of the season coming on in the bottom of the seventh and giving up one unearned run in two innings of relief. Finocchi now has pitched 11 innings and has yet to yield an earned run. Jamie Gant (0-2) was saddled with the loss for Lexington.
Game four of the series is Friday night, Kevin Dixon (0-1, 2.16) will start for the Captains, while Brian Bogusevic (0-0, 1.50) will toe the rubber for Lexington. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (WELW 1330 AM, WKNR 850 AM, Adelphia 15).
