Albany Firebirds News Release

Albany, N.Y., April 8, 2004 – For the first time ever, on Saturday night April 10th at 7:30 pm, the Albany Conquest will broadcast a road game on live TV to their fans in the Capital Region, when UPN Capital Region airs the season opener against the Cape Fear Wildcats. UPN will launch the Conquest Broadcasts for the 2004 season as part of a 12 game broadcast package which will include five live road contests, one live game from the Pepsi Arena on June 6th and present 6 tape delay home game airings.

The announcement follows the Conquest announcement last week that News Channel 13 WNYT-TV will broadcast live four of the team's games on Saturday nights beginning with the home contest at the Pepsi on April 24th.

At the same time, the Conquest announced that former Albany Firebirds Head Coach Rick Buffington will serve as the color commentator for the first broadcast April 10th as he joins experienced play- by- play man Jim Brinson, who for the last 5 years was the radio-TV voice of the Buffalo Destroyers of the AFL. Additional broadcasters will be announced as the season progresses.

"This is the first time that Capital Region Conquest fans will have the opportunity to view their team on live television on road games, " said Albany Conquest General Manager Robert Zeig. " Our fans can see our games live Saturday night on WNYT Channel 13 , and UPN CAPITAL REGION . At the same time, everyone can follow the team on Sunday as UPN will present many of our games on tape delay and rebroadcast. This upcoming season the Conquest is living up to our slogan "this team puts on a show. "

WNYT-TV's Vice President and General Manager Steve Baboulis said, "We are looking forward with great anticipation to our partnership with the Albany Conquest. The team will present an exciting product, both on and off the field. We look forward to capturing some of that excitement for our viewers by televising these games. And of course, our sports team of Rodger Wyland and Andrew Catalon will cover the team extensively throughout the season."

"Arena Football is extremely exciting, and the Albany Conquest plays it like nobody else" said UPN Capital Region, WNYA Station Manager Duncan Brown. "We're proud to be able to bring 12 games to the Capital Region, both live and by tape delay, so that everyone can share in the excitement."
