Connecticut Sun Teams Up With PBS Kids Show

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (July 18, 2008) - The Connecticut Sun has teamed up with Design Squad, the PBS Kid's show, to film an episode in which two groups of aspiring engineers design a t-shirt shooter for use at a game. The finale of the episode will be filmed on Sunday, July 20th as the Sun take on the Chicago Sky.
The challenge, which was posed to the two groups earlier in the week by Sun players Tamika Raymond and Lindsay Whalen, was to design and build a way to safely distribute t-shirts to fans in the upper deck of the arena at a game. Both groups will present their designs to Raymond, Whalen and show host Nate Ball on Sunday prior to game time, and the winning team will be revealed live during the game.
"We are very excited to be able to partner with Design Squad for this episode," Sun general manger Chris Sienko said. "We will be able to raise awareness of the team to a larger portion of the public, while also promoting educational endeavors, which is very important to us."
The episode is being filmed for Season 3 of Design Squad, which premieres nationally on PBS in the fall of 2009. The show is aired locally on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) on Saturday's at 10 a.m.
