(Manchester, CT) - The WNBA powerhouse, the Connecticut Sun, will be putting their feet to a different "floor" on Sunday, April 27 as players, coaches and staff hit the road at March of Dimes March for Babies in Mystic. Formerly known as WalkAmerica, March for Babies is the March of Dimes premier fundraising event that benefits all babies-those born healthy as well as those who need help to survive and thrive.

Head coach Mike Thibault and assistant coaches Bernadette Mattox and Scott Hawk will be leading the way, along with Connecticut Sun players Jolene Anderson, Cori Chambers, Jess Foley, Kamesha Hairston, and Ketia Swanier.

"We are very excited to be able to participate in the March of Dimes March for Babies on Sunday," said Chris Sienko, Sun general manager. "This is a great cause, and to get our staff, players and fans out to participate is an excellent way to kick off the 2008 season."

Families from around the state are encouraged to sign up for the Connecticut Sun March for Babies team at www.marchforbabies.org/connecticutsun. For an initial $20 registration fee, team members will walk with players and coaches on Sunday in Mystic, receive an exclusive Connecticut Sun March for Babies t-shirt and a ticket to the March of Dimes Celebration game on May 30th at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The first 30 people to register for the Connecticut Sun team will also have the opportunity to form the "Fan Tunnel" at the Celebration Game. Proceeds from the registration fee will benefit the March of Dimes.

Mohegan Sun Greater Mystic March for Babies takes place on Sunday, April 27th and begins at the Mystic Arts Center. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and March for Babies will begin at 10 a.m. For more information, visit www.marchforbabies.org.

Premature birth touches half a million babies and their families every year including over 4,100 babies in Connecticut. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have disabilities. More than 120,000 babies are born with serious birth defects that can mean a lifetime of disability. Babies born healthy need champions too, to be sure they have access to newborn screening and preventive health care. The March of Dimes and the Connecticut Sun are there for all babies.

March for Babies is presented by Mohegan Sun. Local sponsors include Dime Bank, Dominion, Waterford Hotel Group, and Soft Rock 106.5 WBMW. March for Babies in Connecticut is sponsored by CIGNA, NBC 30 and Bob's Discount Furniture.
