
Conklin Recalled On Emergency Basis

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled goaltender Ty Conklin from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) on an emergency basis, it was announced this afternoon.
Additionally, Pittsburgh has reassigned goaltender John Curry from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Conklin, 31. is tied for the American Hockey League lead with 11 wins, is sixth with a 2.21 goals against average and seventh with a .919 save percentage.
The native of Anchorage, AK, has a career National Hockey League record or 30-24-4 with a 2.65 goals against average in 76 games with the Edmonton Oilers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres. He was signed by Pittsburgh as a free agent on July 19, 2007.
Curry, 23, has recorded a 1-2-0 record with a 2.66 goals against average and .901 save percentage in three games with the Penguins this season. A free agent signing our of Boston University, Curry has also posted a 4-1-0 record with a 2.81 goals against average and .905 save percentage in six games with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) this season, and was 0-1-0 with a 4.00 goals against average with the Nailers.
Curry also competed for the United States National Team at the Deutschland Cup in Hannover, Germany, in November, where he posted a 1-0-1 record, a 1.92 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.
The Penguins' annual Skills Competition, sponsored by Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, takes place this Sunday, December 9 at 5:05pm. Tickets are just $13.00, with proceeds from the event benefiting the Penguins/United Way Charity Fund.
