Conditional Players Have Important Role for RedWolves

May 17, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Florence RedWolves News Release

For the start of each season, having true role players, can be the determining factor on what kind of start the team gets off to. Since the RedWolves season begins just after D-1 conference weekend and before Regionals begin, many of the signed players for the summer season will not be with the team for the first few games. That is where conditional players come in. These players are brought in to fill out the roster until post season players arrive in Florence, and sometimes if the situation arises can be made full time players for the summer. Conditional players understand their importance to a team and they understand that their amount of time here is probably short term. "Being a conditional player actually suits some players better than being a full time player." "They made need to take a summer class, work a job, or their school only wants them to play for a short time and then shut down for the rest of the summer to work out and rest from their spring season." "So we spend just as much time looking for quality conditional players as we do our full time guys." "Once the conditional players time is up with us, if we don't have a roster spot to make them full time, I will send out an email to the other teams in our league that might have a need and try to help the player get a full time contract if playing the whole summer is something they would like to do." "We feel we owe them that for helping us out for the short term, especially if they come from somewhere far off just to play for us a couple of weeks." Jamie Young, GM

This year the RedWolves will start out with 8 quality conditional players to hopefully help put our team in a great spot standing wise, until all our full time guys get here. Here are the names and schools that our conditional players are coming from.

ALL YOU CAN EAT AREA AVAILABLE FOR THIS SEASON

The RedWolves have converted the playground area down the 3rd base side of the field to now be all you can eat area/company outing area for the 2012 season. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night home games the area will be serving all you can eat hot dogs, p-nuts, chips, sodas and draft beer for only $12. For Thursday, Friday and Saturday home games the area will be used for business outings as an exclusive area. For businesses interested in using this area, contact the RedWolves office for information on ticket/food packages that we have to offer. On the AYCE nights the area will be for 21 years and older and it will provide a great place to watch the game, hang out with friends and play games in an exclusive area. "This is an opportunity that other teams in our league have been offering their fans and we figured out a way to move some things around to be able to offer the RedWolves fans." "We hope this we provide a new and exciting place to hang out for people even if RedWolves/baseball is really not their thing, and that they will hear about how fun it is and come out and become a fan of RedWolves baseball and our facility." "We believe this will be a more affordable fun and entertainment choice for the adults in the Pee Dee area, who are looking for something different to do." Jamie Young, GM
