EDENTON, NC - The Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League announce today that incoming left-handed pitcher Tim Flight has been named the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Year and a finalist for the Tino Martinez award, given to the most outstanding player in NCAA Division II baseball.

Flight is a 6'4", 190-pound starting pitcher at Southern New Hampshire University. He has dominated the competition this season, on his way to earning a First-Team All-Conference selection in the Northeast-10, to go along with his pitcher of the year award. 2012 marks the second time in Flight's career that he has earned NE-10 All-Conference honors after a Third Team selection a season ago.

In 12 starts this season he is 7-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 84.2 innings pitched. His strikeout total ranks him second nationally and is a SNHU single-season record. He is third nationally in ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .206 batting average against. Flight earned the NE-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week award after striking out 18 batters in a two-hit shutout of St. Anselm on March 22nd. This effort also earned him the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Division II Pitcher of the Week honor. Flight is a huge reason why the SNHU Penmen are making their first ever NCAA tournament appearance this season.

Flight is one of six finalists for the Tino Martinez award in the East Region and one of 55 total finalists announced. Steamer fans may remember Joey Wendle from West Chester University; he has also been named a finalist for the award this year.

The Edenton Steamers are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
