Las Vegas - Opening the 10th anniversary season on Friday, Oct. 19, the Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team's complete promotional schedule.
For the first time in Wranglers' history, fans can enjoy a hockey game and concert rolled into one package twice this season with the debut of post-game concerts . Alternative country and folk singer-songwriter Todd Snider takes the icy stage on Friday, Feb. 1, and Louis Prima, Jr. and his swing band perform after the game on Saturday, Dec. 1
Midnight hockey returns to Las Vegas once again with two puck drops happening at 11:59 p.m. Fans can don pajamas on Sunday, Dec. 16 for a night with Tony Clifton, and experience the Wranglers Midnight Circus on Sunday, Feb. 17.
Kids (and kids at heart) can meet their heroes in person as two Marvel Comics icons plan to visit Orleans Arena. Iron Man will join the team in honoring local police, firefighter and military personnel during "Heroes Night" on Saturday, Feb. 2, and Captain America will be on hand to help pass out 1,000 free kids' dog tags on Saturday, Nov. 10. Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer had so much fun last season, she'll be back the weekend of Jan. 5 and 6, and a free Halloween Treat or Treat - no tricks - on Saturday, Oct. 27 lets kids ages 12 and under collect candy and watch the game for free if they come dressed in a costume.
To honor the 70th birthday of Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Hendrix will perform live in-game entertainment for fans on Sunday, Nov. 30. "Over 18 Night" on Monday, Feb. 4, will feature the world's first topless professional hockey team, while "regrettably tattooed" fans will have the chance to win tattoo cover-up and removal for their most permanent of mistakes on Saturday, March 23's "Regrettable Tattoo Night."
Giveaways include new logo t-shirts on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 Western Conference Champions t-shirts on Wednesday, Nov. 7, kids dog tags the weekend of Nov. 9 and 10, 2012 Western Conference Champions posters on Saturday, Nov. 29, The Duke mascot doll on Sunday, Dec. 30, team trading card sets on Friday, Feb. 15, and 10th anniversary player posters on Tuesday, March 19.
Throughout the season, there will be six post-game "Skate with the Wranglers" that are free and open to the public with limited skates available. A special day game will take place on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 21, at 2:05 p.m., and fans can join the team on the ice after the Sunday games on Dec. 30, Jan. 6, March 3, March 24, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, as well.
The Wranglers continue giving back to the community with special Movember jerseys on Sunday, Nov. 30, to support men's cancer research. A Teddy Bear Toss will benefit Sunrise Acres Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 1, and two "Sing for Santa" nights will help fund local elementary school music programs on Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8. For the tenth season in a row, "St. Baldrick's Night" returns on Sunday, March 3, to help fight childhood cancers.
As a final thank you to fans, Fan Appreciation Night wraps up the season on Friday, March 29 .
Additional promotions may be added to the schedule as the season continues, and are subject to change. All giveaways are for the first 1,000 paid admissions in attendance, except for the dog tags that go to the first 1,000 kids ages 12 and under. The full promotional schedule is listed below:
