Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. - The National Women's Soccer League announced the full, 2016 schedule today, which includes the Western New York Flash's 20 regular-season matches.

The Flash will open the season with two matches on the road, first facing FC Kansas City on April 16 and Chicago Red Stars on April 23, before its first home match at Sahlen's Stadium on April 29 against the Washington Spirit.

After four of its first five games away from home, fans will then have the opportunity to see the Flash at home frequently. Beginning May 21, the Flash will have a seven-game home stand, starting against Sky Blue FC and ending with a July 9 game against Seattle Reign FC. The Orlando Pride, the NWSL's newest franchise, makes its way to Rochester during that span with a June 11 match.

The 2016 schedule will completely avoid league play in the regular season during all FIFA dates. In addition, the NWSL will take a 25-day break from August 1 through August 25 during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil. The League will play approximately 74 matches prior to the Olympic break and 26 matches following it.

The Flash will meet the Houston Dash, first away then at home, on each side of the Olympic break.

The schedule features games against each NWSL opponent twice during the season, except the Boston Breakers who the Flash will meet a total of four times.

Western New York wraps up the regular season with four matches on the road, closing on September 24 at Boston.

Times for all matches will be announced at a later date.
