Morristown, N.J. - Sky Blue FC revealed its 2016 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) schedule on Thursday, playing rival Washington Spirit four times and the remaining eight NWSL clubs twice each. After opening the season on the road against Seattle Reign FC on April 17th, Sky Blue FC will play its first home match at Yurcak Field the following Sunday, April 24th, hosting Washington.

"We are as excited as our fans to see the official schedule released because it means that the season is almost here," said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. "Between now and the last game of the season, we will be planning meticulously to ensure we perform to the highest level in each game."

The 2016 NWSL regular season opens league-wide during the third weekend of April and will commence in late September. 10 member clubs will participate in the 2016 NWSL slate, with all nine teams returning from 2015 along with the addition of the expansion Orlando Pride. Each club will play a 20-game docket that will consist of 10 home and away matches.

Sky Blue FC will be returning to Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University for its home slate in 2016, marking its seventh professional season at the venue.

The 2016 schedule will completely avoid league play in the regular season during all FIFA dates. In addition, the NWSL will take a 25-day break from August 1st through August 25th during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil. The League will play approximately 74 matches prior to the Olympic break and 26 matches following it.
