CHICAGO - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) unveiled today the complete 2016 regular season schedule, which kicks off on Saturday, April 16 with the defending champion FC Kansas City hosting the Western New York Flash.

Each of the league's ten clubs will play a total of 20 games during a 19-week span, with a schedule consisting of 10 matches at home and 10 away.

The 2016 schedule will completely avoid league play in the regular season during all FIFA dates. In addition, the NWSL will take a 25-day break from August 1 through August 25 during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil. The League will play approximately 74 matches prior to the Olympic break and 26 matches following it.

The regular season will conclude the weekend of Sept. 24-25 with all ten clubs in action during the final weekend of the campaign.

The top four teams will once again qualify for the 2016 NWSL Playoffs. The dates for the semifinals and final, including the pre-determined site of the championship, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a ten-team Division-I women's professional soccer league featuring national team players from around the world. The ten clubs are the Boston Breakers, Chicago Red Stars, Houston Dash, FC Kansas City, Orlando Pride, Portland Thorns FC, Seattle Reign FC, Sky Blue FC, Washington Spirit and Western New York Flash.
