Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, went back to their golf bags and tee'd up in the 2016 Young Life Golf Tournament that was played at Hart Ranch last Friday.
This was the sixteenth time that the Young Life Golf Tournament has been held. Vast Broadband, a loyal corporate sponsor of the Rush, was responsible for inviting Rush GM Joe Ferras and Head Coach Mark DeSantis to play in the tournament.
"Young Life is an organization that helps pull youth together in a Christian setting. The tournament, which helped raise over $200,000 for the cause was great, and having Joe and Mark along added so much for us," said Weldon Feightner, Vice President of Operations for Vast Broadband. "Listening to some of these kids and their story of how Youth Life impacted them was humbling, and made it worth it to golf in frigid conditions. Joe and Mark golfed remarkably, including Joe's tee-shot off of a toilet. It was a great day and I was very happy they joined us in this great cause."
"It is very important to the Rush organization to be involved in as many great causes as possible not only during the season, but also during the offseason," said Rush GM Joe Ferras. "Both Mark and I had a great time being a part of the Young Life Golf Tournament that helps so many kids in our community. Our corporate partners and season ticket holders are the lifeblood of our organization, and Vast Broadband has been a tremendous partner with the Rush. To get the opportunity to spend the day with Weldon and support a great cause made for a perfect day."
We're less than five months away from our first game of the 2016-17 ECHL season and home opener on October 14th when we welcome the Colorado Eagles to town! Keep an eye out for the Rush in the community as we count down the days to the start of our ninth season in the Black Hills!
