Kansas City Comets News Release
After an idle week, the Comets return to action this Friday, November 28, when the Philadelphia KiXX visit Kemper Arena for a 6:05 p.m. kickoff.
The Comets and KiXX met on Saturday, November 15, at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia, and Kansas City recorded an 11-9 win behind a four-point performance from Jamar Beasley and a fine outing from goalkeeper Josh Schreck, making his first MISL start. Beasley (three goals, assist) led the Kansas City offense, and Jeff Davis (goal, two assists) and Miodrag Djerisilo (two goals, assist) also had productive nights. The win was Kansas City's first on the road this season and ended the team's three-game losing streak.
Kansas City went 2-3 against Philadelphia in 2002-03, and is now 12-12 against the KiXX all-time. The Comets were 2-1 against the KiXX at Kemper Arena last season, including a 26-6 win the last time Philadelphia came to town on March 4, 2003.
Following Friday's game, the Comets begin a three-game road trip that will take the team to Monterrey (Friday, December 5), Dallas (Sunday, December 7), and Baltimore (Saturday, December 13).
The Comets enter the week tied with the St. Louis Steamers for second place in the MISL's Central Division. The Steamers dropped to 2-4 with a 5-2 loss at home to Dallas on Saturday night.
SAVIC, DAVIS INTERVEIWS ON TAP:
Comets head coach Zoran Savic and veteran defender Jeff Davis will both be interviewed on live television this week.
Savic will be interviewed by Dave Stewart on the Tuesday edition of "Sports Talk," which will air from 6:00 â 7:00 p.m. on Metro Sports.
Davis will join Jack Harry on Thursday's "The Sports Spot," which can be seen on Channel 38 The Spot from 7:00 â 8:00 p.m. Davis is currently ranked fifth in the League with 13 blocks and is the third-highest-scoring defender in the MISL with seven points, behind Monterrey's Genoni Martinez (14) and Dallas' Nick Stavrou (eight points).
