MISL Hands out Weekly Kudos

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Sagu, Dallas Sidekicks

Sagu wins his second Goalkeeper of the Week Award this season after saving 12 of 14 shots in Dallas' 5-2 win in St. Louis on Saturday, November 22. The 30-year-old was also the Sidekicks' leading scorer in the contest, assisting on two goals. With his standout performance, Sagu lowered his League-leading goals against average to 3.34 and increased his save percentage to .794, also tops in the MISL. The native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, is second in the League in both minutes played (466) and saves (100) and is tied for second with four wins. Sagu, who has now started 40 of Dallas' last 44 games, was also named the MISL's Goalkeeper of the Week on November 3.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Genoni Martinez, Monterrey Fury

Martinez enjoyed his finest weekend of the season, scoring nine points (five goals, four assists) and blocking five shots as the Fury went 1-1. The MISL 's reigning Defender of the Year led Monterrey to a 7-3 win in Cleveland on Friday night with two goals and five points; one of his three assists came on Ramon Fernandez's game-winning goal in the third quarter. The 28-year-old followed up with three goals, an assist, and four blocked shots in the Fury's 8-5 loss in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Martinez is now the highest-scoring defender in the League with 14 points (tied for fourth overall) and is tied for third in the MISL with 16 blocks.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shawn Boney, Philadelphia KiXX

Boney set a personal career high with four goals in Philadelphia's 8-5 win over Monterrey on Saturday night at the Wachovia Spectrum. The 6-7, 265-pound target man accounted for half of Philadelphia's scoring in the contest and bagged the game-winning goal at 9:12 of the third quarter. For the season, Boney has now scored nine goals (tied for third in the League) and 11 points (tied for 12th).
