Kansas City Comets News Release

INDEPENDENCE, MO (November 6, 2015) - The Missouri Comets will return home to the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena to kick off the 2015/16 Major Arena Soccer League season against the Cedar Rapids Rampage who will be making their debut after being announced as one of the four new teams in the league. The match, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:35 p.m. CT, will be streamed on GoLive Sports Cast. In addition, in-game updates can be followed via Twitter @CometsMASL.

Coach Vlatko Andonovski will enter his third campaign in charge of the team. During his first season, he led the Comets to the Major Indoor Soccer League Championship followed by a perfect 20-0 regular season last year as well as winning back-to-back titles with National Women's Soccer League side FC Kansas City in 2014 and 2015.

On the other hand, the Rampage announced Jeff Kraft as their first ever head coach. In 1986, Kraft played for the Kansas City Comets before spending three seasons with the Hershey Impact of the American Indoor Soccer Association (AISA). Most recently, Kraft coached the Wichita B-52's last year before being dismissed five games into the season.

After falling to the Baltimore Blast in the Eastern Conference Championship on March 15, the Comets lost long-time goalkeeper Danny Waltman, who signed with the Tacoma Star. However, Andonovski strengthen his roster during the offseason by signing former Wichita B-52's goalkeeper Boris Pardo, defender Kevin Ten Eyck and midfielder Travis Pittman as well as bringing back Argentine midfielder Lucas Rodriguez.

This will be the first of three meetings between the Rampage and the Comets this season. Coach Andonovski's team will visit U.S. Cellular Center on Saturday, November 28 as well as on New Year's Eve.

The Comets will be without defenders Brian Harris and John Sosa who were both called-up by U.S. Futsal National Team for a tournament this weekend in Costa Rica. In addition, both of them have to pay a three and one-game suspension respectively.

The Cedar Rapids Rampage's roster features two former Comets players who will be making their return to Independence. Midfielders Alex Megson and Patrick Kelly were signed by the Rampage during the offseason.

Next up, the Comets will play back-to-back road games when they visit the Dallas Sidekicks and the Harrisburg Heat next Friday and Saturday respectively.
