SOUTH BEND, INDIANA - The South Bend Silver Hawks (24-22) scored four runs in the fourth inning Wednesday but came up just short, falling to the Fort Wayne TinCaps (22-24) 7-5 in front of 4,527 fans at Coveleski Stadium. The Silver Hawks entered play in a second-place tie with the Bowling Green Hot Rods, who take on the Great Lakes Loons Wednesday night.

Trailing 6-1, the Silver Hawks pulled to within 6-5 with a big fourth inning. Fidel Pena notched an RBI single before Ryan Court and Ender Inciarte tallied back-to-back two-out hits - Court an RBI single through the middle and Inciarte a two-RBI double off the right-center field wall.

Ruben Mejia (1-1) earned his first win for Fort Wayne, hurling three scoreless innings out of the TinCaps bullpen. Taylor Siemens (2-1) - in just his second start of the season - was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits over four innings.

The Silver Hawks had an opportunity to tie or take the lead in the sixth inning when they loaded the bases with just one out against Mejia. Fidel Pena and Marc Bourgeois both singled and were sacrificed into scoring position. The bases became loaded when Ender Inciarte was walked intentionally. Josh Parr flied out to left and Chris Ellison grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.

Kable Hogben tossed three scoreless innings out of the Silver Hawks bullpen. D.J. Johnson allowed a run on three hits over two innings.
