Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks News Release
A third period comeback attempt by the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks came up a dollar short Saturday night, as the New Jersey Titans skated away with a 4-3 victory in the Hat City.
New Jersey opened the scoring in the first on a freak bounce, as a clearing attempt from their defensive zone took a lively hop off the endboards trickled into the blue paint. Danbury netminder Josh Seeley inadvertently kicked the puck into the net for the game's first goal.
Danbury would respond with a powerplay goal, as Mark D'Agostino potted a rebound on the rush. The Titans would re-claim the lead with just 1.6 seconds remaining in the period, as a netmouth scramble resulted in a prime chance for Anthony Calafiore with a yawning netmouth.
The Titans carried that momentum into the second period, as a well-executed passing play resulted in a point-blank goal scored by Tyler Nasca. Alex D'Angelo would extend the lead to 4-1 shortly after. Danbury would score a powerplay goal with a delayed call at 6-on-4, with Spencer Evans tallying with a seeing-eye shot from the blueline.
The Jr. Hat Tricks would once more chip away at the lead five minutes into the third period, as Alex Krause picked up his second goal of the weekend on a loose puck in front. Danbury would generate several more opportunities for themselves, including a powerplay look with 1:53 remaining in regulation, but were unable to solve Louden Hogg for a fourth time.
Hogg stopped 30 of 33 for New Jersey in net.
The Jr. Hat Tricks will go on the road for the first time Friday, Oct. 16th as they battle the Northeast Generals at 12 pm. Live streaming will be available on HockeyTV.com.
