NWL1 Tri-City Dust Devils

Comeback Bid Falls Short As Tri-City Loses To Spokane

August 10, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

Baker's Four Hits Not Enough Against Spokane

A late rally fell short for the Tri-City Dust Devils (4-8, 23-27) on Tuesday night as the team lost 6-5 to the Spokane Indians (7-5, 26-24). Chris Baker dazzled at the plate collecting four hits and driving home three of the team's five runs.

The Dust Devils jumped out to an early lead. Tri-City scored their first run in the second inning and added two more in the third inning. The Dust Devils had a three-run lead going into the fifth inning, but that is when the team ran into trouble.

Five runs were scored by the Indians in the fifth inning as all nine batters came to the plate for Spokane. A combination of five Spokane hits and two Tri-City errors led to the damage. The Dust Devils went into the bottom of the ninth inning trailing by two runs and cut the deficit to only one after Baker's fourth hit of the night. Tri-City had the winning run at the plate with two outs, but G.K. Young struck out to end the team's comeback bid.

Right-hander Cal Quantrill, the eighth overall pick of this year's MLB Draft, will make his second start for the Dust Devils on Wednesday night. The Indians will counter with right-hander Demarcus Evans. It will be $21 An Out Night and Garage Sale Night courtesy of Century 21 . Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
