
Comcast SportsNet to Present Second Part of D.C. United Original Programming

Washington, D.C. (September 27, 2013) - D.C. United and Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic today announced that the network will air the second part of special D.C. United original programming next week. On Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., Part 2 of "SportsNet in Focus: Behind the Badge" will provide viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at some of the players, fans and stories from D.C. United's 2013 season.
"Courtesy of our partners at Comcast SportsNet, "ÃËBehind the Badge' allows viewers exclusive access and the opportunity to gain insight into the character, personality and vision of all involved at D.C. United," said D.C. United Chief Marketing Officer Doug Hicks. "We're excited by this project and look forward to the unveiling of Part 2 next Wednesday."
The second episode of "Behind the Badge" will examine four unique aspects of the club: Homegrown goalkeeper Bill Hamid's rise from local high school Academy product to potential future U.S. National Team player, 18-year-old Collin Martin as he balances a professional soccer career as he also pursues his college degree at The George Washington University, Head Coach Ben Olsen and General Manager Dave Kasper's view on Homegrown players, as well as a profile on Sainey and Sanna Nyassi, the twin brothers from Gambia who are making names for themselves in Major League Soccer. The program is set to encore six times: Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13 at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26 at 12:30 a.m.
The first episode of the series debuted on Sept. 1, and featured midfielder John Thorrington as a full-time soccer professional and father, a gameday experience in midfielder Luis Silva's shoes, United's supporter group culture and Joe Willis showing CSN reporter Michael Jenkins what it takes to be a goalkeeper in MLS.
