Series Streaks: Vegas holds a two game winning streak over Columbus winning both contests last year. Before Vegas beat the Destroyers twice last season, the Destroyers held a five game winning streak stretching back to June of 2000. The Destroyers have only lost twice to the Gladiators since May of 2000.
Coaches: Destroyers, Earle Bruce (6-9 in 2004, 19-25 overall). Gladiators, Frank Haege (7-8 in 2004, 24-21 overall).
OVERVIEW: The Columbus Destroyers have come on strong since their bye week in week eight. Since the break they are 5-3, trying desperately to make up the ground they lost starting at 1-6, including last week's beating of the Dallas Desperados, 68-56. Over the course of the season four players have stood out from the crowd, performing at the highest level, week in and weeks out. Rookie QB Ryan Vena has led the team onto the field for 13 of the team's 15 games. Aside from being the teams leading passer, he has set or tied the Destroyers' single season rush attempt and yardage records. WR/LB Cornelius White has established himself as one of the leagues biggest receiving threats breaking or closing in on all the receiving records. Return man Sedrick Robinson in also setting or tying every return record for the Destroyers. DS JoJo Polk holds the combined tackles record from last season but is closing in on the career record for the Franchise.
THE SERIES: The Columbus-Las Vegas series has been one of long streaks. The Gladiators, formerly the New Jersey Red Dogs, won the first three meetings between the two. The Destroyers went on to win the next five in a row. The Gladiators won both meetings last season to hold a two game streak.

LAST WEEK: The Columbus Destroyers tasted sweet revenge last week after handing the Dallas Desperados a 68-54 loss to avenge the one point loss the Desperados gave the Destroyers early in the season. The 68 points the Destroyers scored was the highest point total for the team since the 2000 season when they scored 79 against New Jersey. Sedrick Robinson once again proved to be the team's workhorse, catching seven balls for 125 yards and four touchdowns, and returning five kickoffs for 153 yards and his Destroyers-record setting fifth returned touchdown of the season. Ryan Vena also continued his record setting ways besting last week's record of seven passing touchdowns in a game by one, throwing eight of them. He threw 22 total passes, 15 of which found their mark for 245 yards and one interception. He also added to his single-season rushing record, dashing for 21 yards and his team-best 11th touchdown. After the 21 yards he gained on the ground last week, Vena is only six yards away from being the all-time leading rusher in franchise history. Trading scores for the majority of the game, the Desperados had a chance with less than a minute left to take the lead. But, Dallas QB Scott Dreisbach found himself in trouble at the Columbus three yardline. He tried to throw the ball away but the ball rebounded off the net into the waiting hands of Columbus WR/LB Titcus Pettigrew for the interception to seal the win. Columbus had an extra opportunity to steal a possession earlier in the game they recovered a Dallas fumble at their own 21. The possession was short lived when WR/DB Will Pettis picked off Vena and scampered his way past the pylons on the return to go into the locker rooms tied at 35. After scoring on the first possession of the half to claim their first lead of the game, Dallas would continue to match every Columbus score until late in the fourth quarter. With Dallas marching down the field, poised to score again. DS Del Lee came through with an interception, which he returned 30 yards to the Desperados 18. Shortly thereafter, Vena connected with Robinson for their third touchdown of the game for the go-ahead score and the eventual winner to go up 62-56. After slamming the door on the Desperados comeback with Pettigrew's interception, the Destroyers dead-bolted it with the fourth touchdown connection between Vena and Robinson with only eight ticks left on the clock to go up by 12, 68-56.
LAST SERIES MEETING: Columbus and Las Vegas last met on May 18 of last year year. The Gladiators were the better team that day, downing the Destroyers in their last game of the season by 17 points, 55-38.

SEDRICK THE ENTERTAINER
Sedrick Robinson has proven to be one of the most dangerous offense threats in the league this season, but three weeks ago versus the Georgia Force he put an exclamation point on the statement setting, tying or coming very close to numerous single game franchise records. He set the record for most kick return yards in a game at 238 yards, tied the record for kickoffs returned for touchdowns with two, tied the record for most points in a game with 30 (two receptions, two returns and one rush for touchdowns) and set season and personal highs with 353 all-purpose yards (which is good for ninth in league history). Entering this week's play, Robinson has 2,549 all-purpose yards, which is second in the AFL. He is 197 yards away from being the team's single season yardage leader. He is also the same amount away from being second on the all-time yardage list. Last week he also set the single-season record for the Destroyers returning his fifth kickoff for a touchdown.
ALL-PURPOSE YARDAGE IN 2004
Player (team) Rush Rec Kick Total
Will Pettis (DAL) 36 1,055 1,799 2,910
Sedrick Robinson (CLB) 60 989 1,489 2,538
54-POINT LINE
The Columbus Destroyers have not lost a game when they have scored 54 points or higher. Three of those have come with scores of 60 or more including last week when they scored 68 points over Dallas. The Destroyers have lost only twice if they score more that 46. Those losses came at the hands of the Carolina Cobras when they lost by one point on the last play of the game and two weeks ago when they lost by 21 points to the Georgia Force. Every game when they have scored fewer than 54 points, the Destroyers have come out on the bottom of the pile.
VIVA LA VENA
Ryan Vena set the franchise record for most rushing yards in a season, and he still has one game left. He has 218 yards on the ground, obliterating the old record of 146 yards. He has also tied the record for most rushing attempts in a season with 60. At 218 yards on the ground he is only six yards away from being the all-time leading rusher in franchise history. He also holds the record for most passing touchdowns in a game, which he set last week, with eight.
SCORING FRENZY
Last week, the Destroyers scored more points than any game dating back to June 25, 2000 when they racked up 79 points against New Jersey. Columbus scored 10 touchdowns total, eight receiving, one rush and one kickoff return.
LEAGUE LEADER
Last week, when Sedrick Robinson returned his fifth kickoff for a touchdown, the Destroyers become the lone leader atop the league in kickoffs returned for touchdowns with six. The only other Destroyer to score a touchdown on a kickoff was Wilmont Perry, who scooped up a botched onside kick attempt by Orlando and returned it seven yards for a touchdown.
MOST WINS
The Destroyers have tied, this year, the most wins a Destroyers team has ever gotten in a single season. If they win next week, gaining its seventh win of the season, the Destroyers will have won more games this season than they have since their 1999 inception.
BIG GUY CAN BALL
In only his second game with the Destroyers OL/DL Jamarr Ward was selected the Defensive player of the game. The deciding factor was his second quarter sack on Rampage QB Anthony Buich for a safety. In three games, he has registered two sacks, seven tackles (six solo), one pass deflection, and one safety.
MOVIN' ON UP
In his rookie season with the Destroyers, Quarterback Ryan Vena has quickly ascended towards the top of the Destroyers' all-time rushing list for a single season as well as career. In only 12 games of action, Vena is currently second all-time in Destroyers history with 218 yards rushing. His 218 yards rushing are a single-season franchise record.
DESTROYERS ALL-TIME LEADING RUSHERS/Career
Player/Years Yards Touchdowns
David White/1999-2000 223 13
Ryan Vena/2004 218 11
*Vena needs 6 more yards to become the Destroyers all-time leading rusher.
A FAMILIAR FACE
Sunday will be the first meeting between the Destroyers and former Columbus OS CoCo Blalock. Blalock, now with Las Vegas, spent the first 10 games of the 2004 season as a member of the Destroyers. He departed as the team's third-leading receiver with 46 catches for 433 yards and four scores. Since arriving in Las Vegas, Blalock has been productive, catching 26 balls for 344 yards and six touchdowns in five games played with the team.
THE TURNOVER TREND
Six. That is the number of games the Destroyers have won when they win the turnover battle. The Destroyers are 0-6 when they lose it. Every single one of their wins has come when the loose balls have rolled their way.
