Players set to rewrite record books

May 26, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK -- Las Vegas OS MARCUS NASH, who has already set the AFL record for receptions in a season with 148, has the chance to knock down three more single-season marks (touchdown receptions, total touchdowns and points) when his Gladiators host the Columbus Destroyers this Sunday at 6 p.m. ET. Nash is not the only player who looks to ink his name in the record books with a strong performance during the regular-season's final week.

San Jose QB MARK GRIEB can set AFL season records for passer rating and completion percentage when he leads his SaberCats against the division rival Arizona Rattlers this Sunday at 4 p.m. in HP Pavilion, where San Jose can clinch the No. 1 playoff seed with a win. While Los Angeles QB TONY GRAZIANI needs to tie the record for touchdowns in one game (11) in order to match or surpass the season record of 104 set by New York QB AARON GARCIA in 2001, he only needs six scoring passes against the Orlando Predators to join Garcia as the only quarterbacks in AFL history to post a 100-touchdown season (Garcia also had 100 in 2003).

Chicago Rush WR/LB ETU MOLDEN is within reach of two rookie records (receptions and receiving yards) and will attempt to set the marks when Chicago travels to Pepsi Center to play the Colorado Crush on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on NBC. A standout game could also bolster his candidacy for the Rookie of the Year award.

On the defensive side of the ball, Chicago OL/DL JOHN MOYER would set the season record for sacks with a 4.0-sack game, while Colorado WR/DB RASHAD FLOYD needs 7.5 tackles to establish a new mark. Following are players pursuing new AFL single-season records:
