
Columbus Crew SC's Harrison Afful Earns International Call-Up

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that defender Harrison Afful has earned an international call-up from the Ghana National Team. Afful is set to join Ghana ahead of a qualification match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Uganda in Tamale (October 7) as the Black Stars open Confederation of African Football Third Round play at home.
Ghana and the Black Stars are beginning Group E play in CAF Third Round qualification. Grouped with Egypt, Congo and Uganda, the top team in the group following a double round robin directly qualifies for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Afful has earned 63 caps all-time for his country, with his latest appearance coming in a friendly against Russia in Moscow (September 6).
Of the 28 players currently on the Black & Gold roster, 14 have received a senior National Team call-up throughout their careers (Afful, Corey Ashe, Conor Casey, Ethan Finlay, Waylon Francis, Ola Kamara, Cedrick Mabwati, Cristian Martinez, Justin Meram, Michael Parkhurst, Rodrigo Saravia, Zack Steffen, Tony Tchani, Wil Trapp).
