Bret Boone to join '08 Clippers

Bret Boone will be starting the season as the Clippers' second baseman. The 39-year-old last played in the Major Leagues in 2005. Boone is looking to get as many at-bats as possible as he works his way back to the Majors. Boone, a former All-Star with the Reds and Mariners, is a 14-year major league veteran with Seattle, Cincinnati, Atlanta, San Diego, and Minnesota. He was third in the AL MVP balloting in 2001, when he hit a career high .331 with 37 home runs with 141 RBIs. Bret is a member of the Boone baseball family. His grandfather Ray, father Bob, and brother Aaron were all Major League All-Stars. Bob is currently the Nationals' Assistant GM & VP of Player Development.
