
Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Forward Maksim Mayorov

Syracuse, NY (August 29, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Maksim Mayorov (pronounced mahx-EEM may-YOHR-ahv) to a standard three-year entry level contract.
Mayorov, 19, appeared in 11 games for Ak Bars Kazan in Russia last season, collecting 1 goal and 16 penalty minutes. He skated in 28 games the previous season with Leninogorsk of the Russian Junior League, tallying 6 goals, 4 assists and 6 penalty minutes.
A native of Leninogorsk, Russia, Mayorov was drafted by Columbus in the fourth round, 94th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Crunch open their 15th AHL season with a home-and-home series against their I-90 rivals, the Rochester Americans. The teams will face-off at the Blue Cross Arena on Friday, October 10, followed by the Crunch's home opener at the War Memorial at Oncenter on Saturday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets are available by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473-4444.
