Columbus Blue Jackets Recall Sean Collins and Brian Gibbons

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Mark Letestu and defenseman James Wisniewski on Injured Reserve and recalled centers Sean Collins and Brian Gibbons from the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Letestu, who has tallied three goals and two assists for five points in nine games this season, is expected to miss two to four weeks due to a groin injury suffered vs. Ottawa on Oct. 28. Wisniewski, who has three assists in nine games this season after leading all club defensemen in scoring with 7-44-51 in 75 outings in 2013-14, suffered a broken finger vs. the Senators and will be sidelined one to two weeks.

Collins, 25, has collected 1-5-6 and two penalty minutes with an even plus/minus rating in eight games with Springfield this season. Columbus' ninth pick, 187th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft, he has registered 0-1-1, six penalty minutes and is -1 in 11 career NHL games over the past two seasons. He has also notched 29-54-83, 60 penalty minutes and is +27 in 147 career AHL games, including 16-25-41, 34 penalty minutes and was +9 in 67 games last season.

The 6-1, 200-pound native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan also played four seasons at Cornell University (ECAC), where he notched 30-27-57 and 62 penalty minutes in 136 games from 2008-12. His best season was 2011-12 when he picked up 13-13-26 and 14 penalty minutes in 35 games.

Gibbons, 26, was signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent last July and has collected 1-3-4, four penalty minutes and is +2 in seven games with Springfield this season. He spent the previous three seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, collecting 5-12-17, six penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating in 41 career NHL games with the Penguins and 2-1-3 and two penalty minutes in eight Stanley Cup playoff contests. He has registered 31-63-94 with 107 penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 175 career AHL games with Springfield and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Springfield.

A native of Braintree, Massachusetts, Gibbons spent four seasons at Boston College from 2007-11. He tallied 56-108-164, 241 penalty minutes and was +86 in 160 career NCAA games. He helped the Eagles capture two NCAA championships (2008, 2010) and combined for 34-67-101, 157 penalty minutes and a +50 plus/minus rating in 81 games during his junior and senior seasons. He tallied career highs with 18-33-51, 79 penalty minutes and a +26 plus/minus rating as a senior in 2010-11.
