Columbus Blue Jackets Re-Sign Defenseman Aaron Rome

Syracuse, NY (July 18, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Aaron Rome to a one year two-way NHL and American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rome, 24 appeared in 55 combined games with the Crunch and Portland last season, registering 5 goals, 24 assists and 157 penalty minutes. He also skated in 17 games with Columbus last year, tallying 1 goal, 1 assist and 33 penalty minutes. During his career, Rome has played in 270 career AHL games with Cincinnati (Mighty Ducks), Portland and Syracuse, notching 20 goals, 74 assists and 513 penalty minutes.

A native of Nesbitt, Manitoba, Rome was acquired by Columbus along with Clay Wilson from Anaheim in exchange for Geoff Platt on November 14, 2007. He was originally selected by Los Angeles in the fourth round, 104th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
