Colts Win Series Finale in Extras

Fort Worth, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts scored two runs in the top of the 12th inning to complete a 4-2, comeback victory over the Fort Worth Cats Sunday night at LaGrave Field. The win also snaps a three-game losing streak for the Colts, and prevents them from being swept for the first time this year.
Shortstop Danny Hernandez scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by second baseman Jon Dziomba. Hernandez reached base with a one-out, infield single, and advanced to second when first baseman Steve Rinaudo drew a walk. Hernandez then came home from second on Dziomba's base hit.
Rinaudo then scored from second on an RBI single by third baseman Ryan Hutson. Hutston finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
Rinaudo was also responsible for tying the game in the seventh inning. The Colts trailed the Cats 2-1, but his RBI single drove in right fielder Dan Evatt and evened the score at two. Evatt hit a leadoff single, stole second, and then scored from second on Rinaudo's hit.
Rinaudo went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Fort Worth reliever Stephen Nikonchik (2-5) suffered the loss, allowing the final two runs on three hits and two walks for the loss. He pitched the final 2 1/3 innings for the Cats.
Meanwhile, Colts' reliever Alfredo Caballero (2-3) earned his second win of the year. Caballero pitched two scoreless innings, and recorded three strikeouts.
The win improves San Angelo to 23-21, while the loss drops Fort Worth to 28-16. Both teams are off on Monday, and then they begin a four-game series at Foster Field on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and it will be a $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser.
The Colts return home to begin a 12-game home stand on Tuesday, July 9 with game one of a four-game series against the Cats.
