Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats were unable to hold off the San Angelo Colts in the final game of the four-game series, falling 4-2 in 12 innings.
Fort Worth (28-16) got off to an early lead, going up 2-0 with a run in the first and second innings.
From there, Colts' starting pitcher Demetrius Banks stifled the potent Cats' offense.
The Colts (23-21) stayed in the game with a run in the third inning and tied it in the seventh on a two-out Steve Rinaudo single.
The game was held scoreless until the Colts broke through in the 12th inning off reliever Stephen Nikonchik.
Both teams' bullpens pitched well. James Giullieti came on in relief of starter Roman Gomez, who went 6.2 innings and struck out seven, and threw three innings of one-hit baseball.
After an off day on Monday, the Cats and Colts go at it again in San Angelo. First pitch on Tuesday will take place at 7:05 p.m.
The Cats return home for a four-game series against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings on July 17.
Tickets to all home games can be purchased by calling (817) 332-CATS or by going online to FWCats.com.
