San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- Mark Willinsky turned in his second consecutive eight-inning performance, leading the Colts to a 2-1 win over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings Saturday night at Foster Field.

Willinsky (4-1) allowed an unearned run on five hits and struck out six WhiteWings in eight innings to pick up his fourth win. He is now tied with Logan Williamson for the team lead in wins.

The Colts broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. Shortstop Landon Camp hit an RBI single that scored first baseman Daryl Jones. Jones hit a two-out infield single, and advanced to second on left fielder Cory Patton's base hit.

Rio Grande Valley tied it in the fifth thanks to a fielding error by Willinsky. With two outs, right fielder Francisco Santana laid down a bunt that was misplayed by Willinsky. Santana reached base, stole second and then scored on an infield single by shortstop Leugim Barroso.

In the seventh left fielder Cory Patton scored the go-ahead run. He drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a balk by WhiteWings' starter Luis Chirinos. Camp followed with an RBI triple into left field. It was Camp's first triple of the season.

Chirinos (4-3) gave up two runs on seven hits in eight innings and took the complete-game loss. Colts reliever Chris Weast worked around a two-out walk in the ninth to earn his first save of the year.

The win improves the Colts to 18-17, while the loss drops the WhiteWings to 20-15. San Angelo has now won three games in a row.
