Barrie Colts News Release

Barrie, ON - Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Windsor Spitfires.

The Colts acquire defenceman Kyle Auger, a 2nd round pick (Guelph's) in 2017 and a 4th round pick (Flint's) in 2017 from the Spitfires in exchange for forward Julius Nattinen and Barrie's 12th round pick in 2017.

"We look at this as a sound hockey trade where both clubs benefit," said General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford. "The Spitfires obtain a skilled player in Julius Nattinen; and this gives him the opportunity to play in the Memorial Cup. Kyle Auger is a young defenseman that we admired in the draft, and we also replenished our draft board with some quality draft picks."

"Kyle is a very good skating puck-moving defenseman that plays the game hard and has pretty good hockey sense," added Ford.

Nattinen, 19, was selected by the Colts in the 2015 CHL Import Draft in the 1st round, 51st overall. The Anaheim Ducks prospect appeared in 52 games for Barrie scoring 22 goals and 49 assists for 71 points, ranking him third in team scoring last season. Nattinen also won a gold medal with Team Finland at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships in Helsinki.

Auger, 17, appeared in 28 regular season games last season for Spitfires, tallying 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points with a +7 rating. The former second round pick from Thunder Bay, Ontario will now join the Colts adding some much needed depth to a young blue line crop heading into next year.

"The Barrie Colts are pleased to welcome Kyle to the organization, and wish Julius all the best moving forward."

Season's tickets for the Colts 22nd season are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Colts office at (705)-737-6931 or by purchasing online.

A full season's tickets package includes tickets to all home exhibition games, plus 34 regular season home games and the first two home playoff games.
