San Angelo Colts News Release
Harlingen, TX - As has become their custom to doubleheaders this season the Colts wound up splitting their third twinbill in as many opportunities, winning game one over Rio Grande Valley 8-3, before losing game two 2-1.
In game one, first baseman Josh Collazo went 3-4 with a double, two singles and four RBI, while starter Brian Henschel went the distance in leading the Colts to the five-run win.
The Colts got things started by putting three runs on the board in the first. Second-baseman Mark Ramos raced home on a wild pitch by White Wings starter Luis Montano to put the visitors up 1-0. San Angelo also received an RBI double by designated hitter Jason Crosland and an RBI single by first-baseman Josh Collazo to make the score 3-0 at the end of half an inning.
San Angelo added to their lead in the second on a bases-loaded single by Crosland before Collazo would pick up his second RBI of the game on a single to extend the lead to 5-0.
They would stretch the lead to six on a Collazo double-play ball in the fourth before Rio Grande Valley would get on the board. Centerfielder Javis Diaz singled in a run to cut the lead to 6-1 in the fifth before Collazo stepped up one more time and laced a two-run double down the leftfield line in the sixth to give the Colts an 8-1 lead.
The White Wings scored a couple of meaningless runs on a solo-homer by right-fielder Arlon Quiroz (5) in the sixth, and an RBI single by catcher Luany Sanchez in the seventh to make the final score 8-3.
In addition to Collazo, Crosland went 4-5 with two doubles, two singles, two RBI, and three runs scored. Quiroz went 2-2 with a homer and single to lead the way for Rio Grande Valley while second baseman Roberto Rodriguez went 2-3 with a double, single and run. Diaz chipped in for the White Wings by going 2-4 with two singles, a run, and an RBI.
Henschel (3-4) got the win by going seven innings while allowing only three runs on 10 hits while striking out five. Montano (3-3) suffered the loss for Rio Grande Valley after allowing five earned runs on six hits in 1.1 innings.
Game two, meanwhile, was a pitcher's duel between Andres Rosales of Rio Grande Valley and Bryan Heaston of San Angelo with Rosales getting the upper-hand in a 2-1 White Wings' victory.
The White Wings scored their first run on a dropped fly ball by Colts' leftfielder David Cardona to take a 1-0 lead. Rio Grande added another run on a bloop RBI single by Sanchez in the third to make the score 2-0.
The Colts cut the lead in half on a wild pitch by Rosales, which scored right-fielder Adam Hale from third. The Colts, however, couldn't get any closer as Rosales went six innings allowing two hits and an earned run while striking out seven.
San Angelo had a chance to tie the game in the seventh with two on and two out, but closer Anderson Garcia got Cardona to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game.
Sanchez led the White Wings offensively in game two by going 3-3 with a double, two singles, an RBI and a run scored. No one for the Colts had more than one hit in game two.
Rosales' victory upped his record to 3-2, while Garcia garnered his fourth save. Heaston (2-1) was the tough-luck loser for San Angelo after tossing six innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits and striking out four.
The Colts and White Wings will finish their four-game series Sunday night beginning at 7:05. Alex Morales (0-1, 10.29 ERA) will go for San Angelo against Miguel Matos (2-1, 5.24 ERA) of Rio Grande Valley. The broadcast begins at 6:50 with the Kemps Pre-Game Show and can be heard on 1260 KKSA.

Also, Tuesday's game will be the night of the Diamond Dig presented by Legend Jewelers as one lucky fan will win a diamond pendant.
