San Angelo Colts News Release

Amarillo, Texas---The Colts (45-25) snapped a two-game losing streak against the Dillas (38-31) with an emphatic 11 - 4 victory against the third place squad in the United League. Selwyn Langaigne was 4-6 in the contest and Ronnie Gaines missed hitting for the cycle by a home run.

Ezequiel Astacio (8-1) served seven innings of four run baseball in earning the victory. Starter, Dustin Taylor (3-6), suffered the defeat and squandered seven runs in 4.1 frames. The Colts attacked the Dillas starter in the opening inning. Ronnie Gaines led off with a triple. After a Hunter Jobes strikeout, Rich Paz singled home Gaines. Bryan Frichter followed with a walk and Selwyn Langaigne stroked a base hit which drove Paz to the plate. San Angelo held a 2-0 lead after the road teams' first opportunity to bat.

San Angelo added to the lead in the second. With one out, Ronnie Gaines doubled. Once Jobes recorded a flyout to center, Paz took his base with a walk. Bryan Frichter lined a single just over the head of the shortstop, Angel Reyes, putting Gaines across for the second time. The road team had a 3-0 advantage.

Amarillo crept closer as the home team managed one in the bottom of the second. Trent Lockwood singled and stole second. Andrew Wong continued the rally with a base knock to place runners at the corners. Angel Reyes grounded into a fielders choice, enabling Lockwood to touch home and cut the deficit to two.

The Dillas' feistiness persisted in the third inning. Amarillo loaded the bags with two outs when Ezequiel Astacio tossed two straight wild pitches. In that sequence, the Dillas tied the game as Simon and Lockwood slid home. The game was tied at three.

After a silent fourth inning, the San Angelo offense sprung to life and put the game away in the fifth. A bases loaded opportunity presented itself for Travis Calloway. The Colts backstop sent a fly ball to the right field line and fell for a double. Landreth and Mahin came home. A walk to Ronnie Gaines loaded the bags yet again. Following Gaines, Hunter Jobes sent a missile to right field; the line drive was mishandled by Terrance McClain and the outfielders miscue brought in three Colts. The onslaught continued with Jobes at third base, Bryan Frichter delivered an RBI single, and Selwyn Langaigne compiled two RBI's with his second single in the inning. A collaborated effort totaled eight runs. San Angelo held an 11-3 lead.

The Dillas were quieted until the seventh. A single by Keanon Simon and a double by Carlos Figueroa added the fourth run. San Angelo was too strong, however, and prevented the Dillas comeback attempt.

San Angelo and Amarillo will continue their four game series tomorrow at Dilla Villa field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm, gates will open at 6:05. The Kemps pre-game show will begin at 6:50 pm. Listen to all of your Colts action on KCLL COOL 100.1, or online at www.sanangelocolts.com.
