San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts announced Thursday they have signed outfielder Lyndon Poole and placed infielder Jason Diaz on the Inactive List.
Poole spent spring training with the Washington Wild Things of the independent Frontier League, but was released before the season began. The 25-year-old last played in 2010 with the Schaumburg Flyers of the now-defunct independent Northern League. In Schaumburg, Poole hit .182 in six games.
In 2009, Poole had a career year. Splitting time between the Flyers and the Tucson Toros of the now-defunct Golden League, he batted a career high .321 with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 67 games.
Now in his sixth professional season, Poole was signed by Los Angeles Dodgers as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He spent three years in their organization, and played one game for the Class AAA Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League in 2008. Poole has a .257 career average with five home runs and 47 RBIs in 164 games.
In order to make room for Poole on the active roster, Manager Doc Edwards de-activated Diaz. The 27-year-old signed with the Colts on June 9. In 26 games with San Angelo, he has hit .234 with eight RBIs. Diaz began the year in Fort Worth, where he hit .259 with one RBI in seven games.
The Colts conclude their four-game series with the Fort Worth Cats tonight. It is $1 Beer Night, sponsored by Miller Lite. The Tyler Lenius Band will play in the beer garden following the game. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
