Colts Sign IF Butch Ballez; Crosland Inactive

San Angelo, Texas---The Colts signed infielder Butch Ballez Friday afternoon after infielder Jason Crosland was inactivated for the second time this month with a ribcage injury.

Before starting the year with the El Paso Diablos of the American Association, Ballez played for the Colts each of the last two seasons and hit .324 in seven home runs and 42 runs batted in 77 games in 2010. His rookie year of 2009, Butch played in 70 games, hitting .288 with four long balls and 30 RBI. The El Paso native played his college baseball at Texas Wesleyan University and Cisco Junior College.

Crosland continues to recover from a ribcage injury and is hitting .152 with one home run and eight RBI.
