OHL Barrie Colts

Colts Shutout by Generals 4-0

November 4, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Barrie Colts News Release

A quick start by the Oshawa Generals put the Barrie Colts in a hole that they could not get themselves out of losing 4-0 on Sunday night.

After having a rare Friday and Saturday night off the Colts were back in action Sunday evening to take on the Oshawa Generals for the first time this season.

Not being in game action for 48 hours showed for the Colts, as the Generals were able to strike very quickly. Just twenty-one seconds into the game Danil Antropov found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Then it was penalty trouble that put Barrie down by more. Just past the midway mark of the opening frame, Giovanni Vallati netted his second of the year on a struggling Oshawa powerplay coming into this game to make it 2-0.

Before the period would end the home team was able to capitalize on yet another man advantage. Nando Eggenberger tipped in a point shot to finish off a strong start at home for the Gens who carried the 3-0 lead into the break.

The second period wouldn't start much better for the boys in blue. Just over a minute in the Gens would extend the lead to four. Eric Henderson popped one behind Zhukov for the 4-0 lead.

Barrie would avoid giving Oshawa more chances with the man advantage but weren't able to capitalize to cut into the lead as they struggled to find their first marker of the game.

With the loss the Generals move ahead of the Colts in the Eastern Conference standings.

Barrie is back in action Friday night as they head to Guelph to take on the Storm before finally returning to the Barrie Molson Centre for a matchup against the Ottawa 67's.
