
Colts on Losing End of Shutout

San Angelo, Texas--- Three Coastal Bend Thunder (18-18) pitchers gave up just two hits and not a single run to the San Angelo Colts(25-11) avoiding the series sweep and grabbing a 1-0 win. Toro Trevino, Miliade Venas, and Benny Cepeda were the Thunder trio.
As the game completed four innings of play, Colts starter Brian Henschel, and Thunder starter Toro Trevino had both faced the minimum batters allowed as the game remained scoreless.
Henschel carried a perfect game through five and 1/3 innings. With one out in the sixth, Coastal Bend catcher Kevin Butler doubled down the left field line becoming the first Thunder to reach base. With two away, Alfred Joseph sent a ball to right center field doubling in Butler, Thunder led 1-0.
In the bottom of the ninth, Jobes began the inning with a single. Jason Diaz worked a single pushing the tying run to second base. After a wild pitch from Coastal Bend's closer Benny Cepeda, Diaz and Jobes stood at second and third with one out. Ronnie Gaines grounded to the short stop Zuzueta who was in the grass. The throw was made to home plate as Jobes attempted knock the ball free from the catcher Butler's glove. As the two collided, Jobes was called out at home. Jason Landreth would hit with runners at first and second. The clean up hitter grounded to short as Zuzueta fielded and stepped on the second base bag to end the ballgame.
Although Brian Henschel (4-3) pitched his third complete game of the season, he would receive the loss. Henschel allowed just one run, scattering four hits while collecting four strikeouts.Toro Trevino(4-2) grabbed the win working six innings allowing just a single hit and no earned runs. Benny Cepeda collected his sixth save of the year.
