Colts lose to Senators 7-10

San Angelo, TX--One night after being pummeled by the Senators bats 14-4, the San Angelo Colts were more than happy to come to the park with a clean slate. Right out of the gates, the Colts looked like a different team, scoring a run in the 1st. Jackson would tie it up in the 2nd but the Colts would nab the lead right back in the 4th, on a Juan Rocha moonshot to left, his 15th longball of the season. San Angelo would tack on an insurance run in the 6th, thanks to a Joe Gilbert sac-fly. The score would stay 3-1 until the 8th, when Jackson would use a Colt's error to nab 2 runs and tie it up. Answering right back however were the Colts, on a Toby Rumfield blooper, followed by an Eddie Gerald double to give the Colts a 5-3 lead heading to the 9th. In that inning, Selwyn Langaigne threw out Rumfield at the plate, from approximately 315 feet away to keep it a 5-3 game. The Colts brought in their closer, Jason Von Haefen who worked most of the inning, behind in the count and payed for it. A game-tying homer off the bat of Alex Llanos was followed up by a Josh Tranum hit and run single that scored Steve Newson from 1st to give the Sens the lead. Langaigne would blast a 2-run shot later in the inning to put the game on ice. Fontella Jones allowed 2 men to reach, but got Tony James to line out to end the game. The comeback win spoiled a dominant performance from Jodie Kennedy who pitched 7 dazzling innings. Alexis Guzman would get the win in relief while Von Haefen got the loss. Jones notched his 3rd save of 2004.
