San Angelo Colts News Release
Abilene, Texas --- A seven-run fourth inning allowed the Abilene Prairie Dogs to cruise to an 11-2 victory over the Colts Monday night at Walt Driggers Field.
Abilene never trailed, getting on the board with two runs in the second. Right fielder Joe Weik and first baseman Kyle Nichols were hit by pitches and then came around to score. Weik was plated on a wild pitch by Colts' starter Chad Nading, and Nichols scored on an RBI ground out by second baseman Zach Welch.
Nading got out of a bases loaded jam in the third, but did not fare as well in the fourth.
The Prairie Dogs sent 11 men to the plate in the fourth, and scored seven runs on five hits and three walks. Nading (0-2) was taken out of the game after retiring just one batter that inning. He allowed eight runs on four hits and a season-high six walks in 3 1/3 innings, and suffered the loss.
San Angelo scored once in the fifth and then again in the eighth. Left fielder Jamar Walton and centerfielder Ronnie Gaines were responsible for the runs.
Abilene starter Woods Fines (1-3) held the Colts to a season-low three hits through eight innings to earn his first win of the year.
This three-game home and home series continues Tuesday at Foster Field. It will be a $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser. Gates open at 6:05 p.m. and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
