Colts hitting shutdown by ERA leader Eric Blackwell

San Angelo Colts News Release


Harlingen, Texas --- On Tuesday Night the Colts would tryout to even up round one of the North American League Playoffs. With San Angelo down 0-1 in the series, the Colts would send righty Adam Kramer to the mound against this season's NAL ERA leader right-hander Eric Blackwell for the WhiteWings. It would not be San Angelo's night as they would lose big 13-3 and move to 0-2 in this best of seven playoff series.

The WhiteWings struck quick with two in the first on an RBI single by Wilmer Pino and an RBI ground out by Leivi Ventura and it was 2-0 Rio. The Wings would add another run in the second on an RBI single by Eric Gonzalez to make the score 3-0. The Colts scored two in the top of the third, on a clutch two out single by Daryl Jones to make it a one run game at 3-2. Rio would get two back though in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Edgar Trejo and Francisco Santana, to make it a three run lead again at 5-2 after three.

Rio would score another pair in the bottom of the sixth on two RBI ground outs to third by Gabriel Ortiz and Wilmer Pino and it was a 7-2 Wings lead after six. The Colts put up a run when Landon Camp (1) hit a solo homerun in the top of the seventh to cut it to 7-3. The Colts were done in though by a six run eighth on a bases loaded clearing triple by David Peralta, an RBI double by Leivi Ventura, an RBI single by Francico Santana that drove in a pair that made it a 13-3 Wings lead, which would be the final.

Both teams have Wednesday off for travel back to San Angelo. On Thursday the North American League Playoffs continue. Game three will feature Colts southpaw Logan Williamson (11-2, 4.99) against WhiteWings right-hander David Cross (4-5, 7.90). Game three begins with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. and the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on Tuesday on 101.9 "The Fire".
