SAN ANGELO, Texas - The San Angelo Colts posted two runs in the seventh inning to edge the Edinburg Roadrunners 4-2 Monday night at Foster Field.
The Colts (19-18) were on the board first in the third inning after a single by Mike Horn and Mark Ramos which would score Horn making it 1-0 San Angelo.
Edinburg (25-9) fired back in the fourth with a double by Ambiorix Concepcion, his first of two on the night. Vincent Blue then tripled to score Concepcion to tie things up.
San Angelo's Jason Crosland tripled off Roadrunners starter Wardell Starling to start the bottom of the sixth, and scored after a sacrifice fly by Adam Hale to right field giving the Colts the 2-1 edge.
Edinburg tied things once again in the seventh after Concepcion doubled, followed by an error by Colts starter Bryan Heaston which safely planted Carlos Hereaud on first to score Concepcion.
San Angelo then posted two runs in the bottom of the seventh off reliever Aaron Guerra after singles by Butch Ballez and Ramos. Ronnie Gaines then doubled to score both Ballez and Ramos to give the Colts the 4-2 lead and eventual win.
The two teams will face off for game two of the four game series at Foster Field with Tim Haines (4-1) set to face Alex Morales (0-1) on the mound with game time set for 7:05 p.m.
The Roadrunners return home for a series with the Laredo Broncos on Friday, July, 9 with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
